Bright Data
Bright Data · Ranked #3 of 19 in Data Enrichment APIs
Web-data infrastructure vendor whose Dataset Marketplace API (Search and Filter, 669M+ LinkedIn people profiles, company and jobs datasets) is self-serve with published $2.50 per 1,000 records pricing, but it ships public profile fields, not verified emails or phones.
Bulk public people and company datasets for data teams
Overview
Bright Data is a web-data and proxy infrastructure company that also sells ready-made datasets from 250+ domains. For people and company data it offers the Marketplace Dataset API (a synchronous Elasticsearch-style Search endpoint returning up to 1,000 records per call, and an asynchronous Filter endpoint that builds snapshots and accepts CSV/JSON uploads up to 200 MiB), the LinkedIn Scraper API (profiles, companies, jobs, posts) and the Web Scraper API. LinkedIn People Profiles is cited at 669M+ records, with company and jobs datasets alongside. Delivery targets include Snowflake, S3, Google Cloud and email, in JSON, NDJSON, CSV, XLSX and Parquet.
This is not a verified-contact enrichment API. Standard LinkedIn profile records contain public fields (name, position, company and so on) and no verified work emails or direct dials; business emails and phones are available only through a partnership enrichment (with RevenueBase). The distinction matters for category fit but not for the rubric, which scores the developer surface.
On that surface the evidence is strong: structured docs with an llms.txt index, Python and JavaScript SDKs, a remote MCP server with OAuth, documented limits (Scraper API: 5,000 running jobs, 1 minute sync wait, 30-day snapshot retention, 25 HTTP 429s in 5 minutes leads to a temporary block), published $2.50 CPM pricing with no charge for zero-match queries, free samples on each dataset page, a public status page covering proxies, scrapers and Web MCP across 11 datacenters, and an advertised 99.99% network uptime plus enterprise custom SLAs. Reputation is high: Trustpilot 4.4/5 (1,025 reviews) and G2 about 4.7/5 (334 reviews), with complaints about KYC friction, account-manager responsiveness and a bot support gatekeeper. Minimum dataset purchases start at $250 for 100K records.
How this score is derived
The APIbenchmarks Index is a weighted sum of four dimensions, each scored on an absolute 0–100 reference scale. See the methodology for every mapping.
| Dimension | Score | Weight | Contribution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Documentation & DXdocs.brightdata.com documents the Marketplace Dataset API (Search and Filter with shared filter syntax, limits and CPM), the LinkedIn scrapers with copy-paste examples, async snapshots, limits and an llms.txt index; strong, though dataset-specific field docs were not fully reviewed. | 82 | 30% | 24.6 |
| ReliabilityA public status page covers proxy, web-access, scraper and Web MCP products across 11 datacenters, an enterprise-grade 99.99% network uptime is advertised (vendor claim, proxy network) and custom SLAs are offered; incident history for the dataset API specifically was not found, so scored below a verified SLA. | 80 | 25% | 20.0 |
| Ecosystem & SDKsOfficial Python (brightdata-sdk) and JavaScript SDKs, a remote MCP server with OAuth, delivery to Snowflake, S3 and GCS, and multiple output formats; breadth is strong but the SDKs target scrapers more than the dataset API. | 82 | 25% | 20.5 |
| AccessibilitySelf-serve with published $2.50 per 1,000 records pricing, free samples per dataset and no charge for zero-match queries, but there is no free API tier for datasets, bulk packages start at $250, KYC friction is reported, and the data lacks verified contact details. | 76 | 20% | 15.2 |
| APIbenchmarks Index (ABI) | 80.3 | ||
